[Shanghai, 1 March 2012]On 1 April 2012 the Rotary Club of Shanghai will be hosting the ‘Rotary Gala Dinner’ for Building Better Communities at the Hilton Hotel, Shanghai. At this event the winners of the ‘Rotary Leadership Awards’ which are designed to honor and showcase outstanding individuals and programs that are making notable socially responsible achievements both in the city of Shanghai and throughout China will be announced.
Like the Rotary Gala Dinner last year, it is expected to be a sold-out event with 250 Shanghai based senior business leaders and their spouses.
The Rotary Gala Dinner heightens the profile of Rotary in China and helps raise funds for the club’s signature project, Gift of Life, which provides life-saving surgeries for children across China who suffer from congenital heart disease. To date, the Gift of Life project has funded 334 life-saving surgeries in China. In 2012 the club is on track to complete 70 more surgeries.
The event is supported by the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, the British Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai and New Zealand’s Global Network (kea).
Interested companies can select from several sponsor levels to support the Gift of Life project. In exchange for their sponsorship, companies will be able to display their logo on the event’s marketing materials and press releases, put literature or other give-away items in the goody bag, and receive acknowledgement at the event. City Weekend is the media partner and the organization’s general manager is participating as a judge for the event. City Weekend’s editors will attend the event to feature the gala dinner and awards results in their magazine. Other judges include the president of the Rotary Club of Shanghai as well as representatives of the European Union Chamber of Commerce, the American Chamber of Commerce, Plan International, Dragonfly Therapeutic Retreat and the Sino-British College.
